Ethos is an agro-energy business with the mission of delivering the lowest cost biofuels, such as ethanol, harvested from carbon neutral energy crops. Key to the company’s business strategy is development in areas of Central/Latin America and the Caribbean where the unique combination of conditions provides the world’s most economical environment for producing biofuels and agro-energy products. Ethos’ core product, sugarcane-based ethanol, is the only commercially available biofuel that is less expensive than current gasoline without any new technology development or government subsidies.

Ethos is a development company focused on rapid execution of biofuels projects in a region of the world where the cost of the underlying feedstock puts ethanol in a position to truly compete with gasoline on a gallon for gallon basis without financial support. In the U.S. we think of ethanol as being derived from corn and requiring significant subsidies. However, in other parts of the world such as Brazil, ethanol has enjoyed a lower cost structure for many decades driven by the ultra-low cost of the underlying resource; sugarcane. Unlike corn, sugarcane grows in very high crop densities and contains much larger percentages of the ‘sugars’ that are required for conversion to ethanol. So while many companies are focused on developing new technologies for converting more of the corn plant to usable sugars, Ethos is taking advantage of available technology to produce the lowest cost ethanol directly from sugarcane – the way Mother Nature intended it to be made.
